What Vinyāsa Flow actually is
Poses are strung into sequences that repeat and build, so the room warms quickly and stays warm. You will sweat. You will also stop thinking about your day somewhere around the fifteenth minute, which is most of why people come.
It is the most popular tradition taught here and the easiest to do badly. Moving fast through shapes you have not learned slowly is how people get hurt, so a Vinyāsa class here always names the option to hold rather than flow.

Questions
- Is Vinyāsa suitable for a complete beginner?
- It can be, but Hatha first is better. Four weeks of Hatha makes a Vinyāsa class enjoyable rather than bewildering.
- Will it help me lose weight?
- It raises your heart rate and builds strength, so it contributes. Weight change depends on far more than one class a week, and we will not pretend otherwise.
- My wrists hurt in plank. What do I do?
- Tell us before class. There are forearm variations for every weight-bearing pose in the sequence.
